Fong Jeng Jong (Ivan)
LAr. Fong Jeng Jong, better known as Ivan, is an award-winning landscape architect with over 15 years of professional experience across Malaysia, Singapore, and China. He is the founder and principal of Hijau Biru Landscape Architecture, based in Ipoh, where he leads projects ranging from urban masterplans to private developments.
Ivan graduated with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2010). His early career included positions at LandArt Design (Malaysia), COEN Design International (Singapore), and Surbana Jurong Consultants (Singapore), where he was involved in large-scale residential, commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects such as The Palette Condominium, Eco Sanctuary, V on Shenton, DUO Development, and multiple public housing estates in Singapore. His experience also extended to masterplanning and landscape tourism projects in China, including Xi’an International Logistic Park and Han Cheng Ju Shui Tourism Planning.
In 2018, he established Hijau Biru Landscape Architecture, where his recent projects include the Edgewater Township Development (Sungai Petani), Kulim Hi-Tech Park Landscape Masterplan, Botani Village Mixed Development (Ipoh), and various condominiums and healthcare facilities across Malaysia.
Ivan has received multiple recognitions, including:
- MLAA15 Honour Award (2025) for Zen by Stellar
- Emerging Landscape Architecture Firm Award (2025) for Hijau Biru
- Young Landscape Architect Award (2019) (ILAM)
- HDB Design Awards (2016) for Waterway Ridges and Joo Seng Green
- Singapore Landscape Architecture Award (2017) – Outstanding Award of Excellence (Residential)
- IFLA Asia-Pacific Awards (2017) – Honourable Mention for Han Cheng Ju Shui Landscape Masterplan
Beyond practice, Ivan is active in professional leadership. He is a corporate member of ILAM and has served as Assistant Honorary Secretary (2022–2024) and currently as Honorary Secretary (2024–2026). He has also contributed to the ILAM Northern Chapter Committee (2020–2022) and is an associate member of the **Malaysia Urban Design Association (PEREKABANDAR).
In addition to design, Ivan has experience in policy and cultural initiatives, having served as a Research Officer at the Perak State Tourism, Art and Culture EXCO Office (2018–2020), where he planned and managed state-level tourism and cultural programs.
With his strong portfolio of award-winning projects, regional experience, and leadership in professional associations, Ivan continues to champion innovative, sustainable, and context-sensitive landscape design in Malaysia and the wider region.
